5.1- Understand the nature and purpose of campaigns

Campaigns aim to promote a message toy will need to investigate an existing campaign and discover….

The main messages or ideas behind the campaign- Comic Relief!

Their vision is ‘a just world free from poverty’ As the world has changed and become more complex over the last two decades, so Comic Relief has had to adapt and change too but the fundamentals remain the same - a just world free from poverty. In trying to achieve that vision we make this promise to the people who make those efforts possible.

They also do work for families in England as well as in Africa when you see comedians go a help people who aren’t as well off as themselves.

The target audience for the campaign-

The audience of Comic Relief is everyday people who want to donate but don’t know how or doesn’t know where to donate. The way they appeal for peoples help is by taking their favorite television shows and putting a new twist on the program, or taking two different TV universes and throwing them together to raise money for charity.

The strategy of the campaign and the methods used to reach the target audience-

Another way they get people In the mood to donate is to take everyone’s favorite celebrates and put them up against challenges that seem impassable, but when you see them trying their best and upmost you feel for them and their cause and it makes you feel like donating.

The success of the campaign and its aims-

Year after year the BBC raise well over 40million every year. They also have a grant strategy, and this how they help people;
Understanding the context
Consulting with key players
Building on good practice
Involving local people and users
Investing in local organizations
Working with others
Implementing learning strategies
Applying learning. That is only one of the ways they help people with that 40 Million pounds.

  1. Your research on Red Nose day gives an indication as to why this campaign is so successful. You mention the target audience and how celebrities are used to highlight the issues raised by charity. How can you use some of these ideas in your work?
